West Delhi Lions secured a decisive 8-wicket victory over South Delhi Superstarz, fueled by a remarkable opening stand between Ankit Kumar and wicketkeeper-batsman Krish Yadav during the second season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Chasing a target of 186, the Lions’ openers launched an aggressive assault. Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav forged a formidable partnership of 158 runs in just 14 overs, putting their team in a dominant position. Krish Yadav was eventually dismissed for a fluent 67 off 42 balls, showcasing crisp strokeplay and smart running between the wickets.
Ankit Kumar, however, narrowly missed out on a century, falling for a splendid 96 off 46 deliveries, decorated with 11 boundaries and six towering sixes.
Earlier in the match, South Delhi Superstarz began their innings strongly. Openers Kunwar Bidhuri and Sumit Mathur combined for a 74-run stand for the first wicket, with Bidhuri scoring a brisk 42 off 27 balls and Mathur contributing a composed 33 off 29. Captain Ayush Badoni played a crucial role in the middle overs, scoring a vital 48 off 25 balls, delivering when it mattered most.
